Instructors:
Sue Humphrey: was the 2004 Head Women’s Olympic Coach and has received the Nike Coach of the Year Award. She has had several years of experience coaching elite, collegiate, and high school athletes; including Charles Austin, the 1996 Olympic Gold medalist in the high jump. She is the only female coach to have NCAA champions in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. Sue currently is the field event coach at St. Stephen’s Episcopal High School (Austin, TX). She holds USATF Level 2 certification in sprints/hurdles/relays .
Richie Mercado: is the St. John’s High School (Houston, TX) Head Track & Field Coach and has coached 30+ years. He recently earned his USATF Level 3 and IAAF Level V Elite Coach Diploma in the Jumps. He also has a USATF Level 2 in the combined events and is the Jr. Coordinator for USA Heptathlon. He serves as secretary of the NACACTFCA (North America, Central America and Caribbean Track & Field Coaches Association).
Cheryl Mitchell: is Level 2 certified in endurance, throws, jumps and sprints. She has been a Level 1 Instructor in the Houston area. With 29 years of coaching experience, she has coached multiple athletes who have gone on to compete at the collegiate level, including Raveyn Rogers. She coaches girls’ cross country and track and field at the Kinkaid School (Houston, TX).
