Instructors and Bios
Dr. Wendy Truvillion is the Assistant Principal of Athletics at Alhambra High School in Phoenix,AZ. Truvillion was a 6-time NCAA All-American at LSU and former track coach at Georgia Tech and Penn State University. Truvillion presently serves as the USATF Women’s Track and Field Vice Chair, Women’s Commission Vice Chair, Junior/HS Focus Group Co-Chair, World Athletics Coaching Matters Virtual Forum host and Adjunct Professor for Grand Canyon University and served on over 20 USA international teams.

April Smith coached at the NCAA level for 20 years and previously was an assistant coach at Fresno State for four seasons. Leading the Throws program at Fresno State, Smith produced seven MWC All-Conference athletes, five conference champions, seven National qualifiers and two All-Americans and three International qualifiers in her first two seasons alone. Prior to Fresno State, Smith spent 15 years at Appalachian State and coached 59 conference champions in the throwing events along with 22 Regional qualifiers, 10 National qualifiers and one Olympic Trials qualifier. Smith was named NCAA East Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2006. Smith is Vice President of the United States Women’s Track Coaches Association (USWTCA), lead coaching education instructor for the USATF Central California Association and was an assistant coach at the 2013 Junior Pan American Games. Smith holds USATF Level 2 certifications in Throws and Combined Events, along with a USATF Level 3 / World Athletics Level V certification in Throws.

Apryl Hampton has coached several US National teams, including US World Junior Team, Barcelona, Spain (2012), US Pan Am Junior Staff, Trinidad and Tobago (2009), US World Championship Tune-Up (2007). Hampton has also served as the USATF Women’s Development – Horizontal Jumps, USATF National Podium Education Project – Jumps, USATF Southwestern Association Coaching Ed/ Coaching Advisory Chair. She is a USATF Level 1 and 2 Coach and instructor.
