Instructors and Bios

David Pavlansky was head boys’ track and cross country coach at Boardman High School from 1999 –2010. Twice named OAT&CCC District 1 Boys’ Track Coach of the Year, Dave received the 2007 Fred Daffler State Coach of the Year Award for Boys’ Cross Country. In 2007 he was among 10 sprint coaches selected nationwide by the USATF to attend the Emerging Elite Coaches’ School in Orlando, Florida. During Dave’s tenure Boardman teams produced both Indoor and Outdoor state champions as well as two Nike All-Americans. Dave has USATF Level 2 certifications in Jumps, Endurance, and Sprints / Hurdles / Relays and he currently serves as USATF Regional Coordinator of Coaching Education for the Midwest and East.

Larry Judge, Ph.D., CSCS. is a Professor of Kinesiology and coordinator of the graduate coaching program at Ball State University. He has 18 years of Division I coaching experience with Indiana State University, the University of South Carolina, the University of Wyoming and the University of Florida. He is a Level III instructor for the World Athletics Coaching Education Program and has coached more than 100 NCAA Division I All-Americans, including nine Olympians. Coach Judge was named the 2003 NCAA assistant coach of the year in the throwing events. Judge served as the throws coach for the 2012 London, and 2016 Rio Paralympic team for the United States.

Shawn Venable is the jumps & hurdles coach at Liberty University. Venable also serves USATF as the Coaching Education Southeast Regional Coordinator and is a Level 1 & 2 Instructor. He has earned the World Athletics Level V / USATF Level 3 certifications in the Jumps, Sprints/Hurdles and Combined Events.

Scott Christensen: Christensen’s teams have been ranked in the national top 10 eight times since 1995. His Stillwater boys’ team won the 1997 High School National Championship and his squads have captured multiple Minnesota State Championships. Four Stillwater alumni have broken 4:00 in the mile since leaving the program. Scott has coached 13 Minnesota State Championship-winning teams and 27 individual Minnesota State Champions with 7 of those in the 1600 meters. Scott was the 2003 USA Junior Team Leader and 2008 USA National Team Leader for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships. Scott is a 17-year USATF Level 2 endurance lead instructor and a 7-year USTFCCCA endurance instructor.
